New York & Berlin (March 27, 2024) - Yahoo Sports, one of the internet’s leading destinations for sports news and fantasy games, announced today that it has partnered with OneFootball, one of the world’s biggest football platforms backed by clubs such as Real Madrid, Manchester City, and FC Bayern Munich, to create a new hub for comprehensive soccer content.
Available in the U.S. and Canada on the Yahoo Sports website and app, the co-branded Yahoo Sports-OneFootball hub will guide fans to soccer coverage from OneFootball’s vast library of original and partner content. It will also feature Yahoo Sports reporting, as well as new video content the companies collaborate on.
Through the hub, fans will have access to news and analysis from leagues and competitions around the world. OneFootball has a 24/7 newsroom that operates in six languages, as well as a network of over 200 well-known content partners and publishers worldwide.
The partnership arrives in a growing soccer market ahead of a key stretch of competition in North America, with the U.S. hosting Copa América, the FIFA Club World Cup, the FIFA World Cup (alongside Canada and Mexico), and the Olympics over the next four years. The Yahoo Sports-OneFootball hub will unlock new advertising and sponsorship opportunities for brands looking to capitalize on these moments.
“We’re thrilled to team up with OneFootball to build the leading home for global soccer coverage,” said Ryan Spoon, President of Yahoo Sports. “There is a growing appetite for great and comprehensive soccer content. Together with OneFootball, we’ll cover soccer with unmatched depth across multiple platforms and unlock meaningful sponsorship opportunities for our brand partners.”
The partnership also enables OneFootball, which is advised by Moelis & Company LLC, to reach new audiences in the U.S. and Canada.
“Our partnership with Yahoo Sports exemplifies our strong foothold and credibility within the football community, enhancing our strategic expansion into North America ahead of pivotal football events such as Copa América later this year,” said Patrick Fischer, CEO of OneFootball. “It paves a special path forward as we prepare for the exciting FIFA World Cup in 2026.”
“For a club like us with strong international ambitions, this landmark partnership between OneFootball and Yahoo Sports makes perfect sense,” said Carsten Cramer, Managing Director of OneFootball shareholder club Borussia Dortmund. “For BVB it unlocks great opportunities to further grow our fanbase in North America. Through this partnership we will reach more supporters and provide them with a wealth of compelling football content about our club.”
“It’s exciting to see how popular soccer is becoming in North America – and the partnership between Yahoo Sports and OneFootball will only help grow the game,” said Alphonso Davies, OneFootball ambassador and shareholder. “Soccer is continuing to grow and more people are tuning in and paying attention. The creation of this content hub will help the game reach a new audience and inspire a new generation of footballers.”
The Yahoo Sports-OneFootball soccer hub will debut later this year, with new content offerings to be announced at a later date.
