Yahoo Finance Launches Industry-First Feature: Private Company Insights in Partnership with EquityZen and Forge Global

The new partnership will provide up-to-date data and insights on many top unicorn companies, at scale for the first time, in one seamless experience

Note: Verizon Media is now known as Yahoo.

Yahoo Finance is launching a private markets hub through a first-of-its-kind partnership with EquityZen and Forge Global (NYSE: FRGE). This new feature will provide information on US late-stage growth equities including up-to-date pricing and valuation information, the industry's first large-scale public-to-private company comparison tool, while opening up the ability for consumers to transact, all in one seamless experience.

As the median age of companies before going public has jumped from 6.9 years in 2015 to 10.7 years today¹, creating an exciting—and often overlooked—opportunity for savvy investors. Unfortunately, many investors have missed out on private market investments due to outdated or incomplete funding round information. Until now, tracking private companies has been a challenge—key data like comparison metrics and value analysis often wasn’t available. But with the latest financial innovations, including lower investment thresholds and real-time pricing, private markets are now more accessible than ever. Yahoo Finance democratized public company investing early on by making historically hard-to-find information more readily available to all consumers. Similarly today, we are taking the opportunity to help even more investors participate in this growing market and stay ahead of the curve.

This new partnership brings those opportunities to the forefront, offering investors a deeper dive into private companies that may have otherwise flown under the radar by providing private market indices, benchmarks, and firmographic insights for venture-backed tech companies. The new private markets hub allows users to directly compare private and public company information, giving them a holistic view of growth stock investments. With the ability to track both public and private companies in one place—through portfolios and watchlists—investors can make more informed decisions. Through EquityZen and Forge, users who meet the SEC’s Accredited Investor definition can now buy and sell shares of private companies, all directly linked from Yahoo Finance.

“This is a game-changer for investors. Through our partnerships with EquityZen and Forge, Yahoo Finance is breaking down the wall between public and private markets—we're now the only platform where you can track both worlds in one place,” said Tapan Bhat, President and General Manager of Yahoo Finance. “With companies staying private longer than ever, we're leveling the playing field. Whether you're an everyday investor or high-net-worth individual, you can now see real-time pricing on these once-inaccessible companies and even buy stakes in them through our partners. We're democratizing information that was previously reserved for insiders.”

By partnering with Yahoo Finance, EquityZen and Forge can reach and educate a wider audience on the investment opportunities and potential benefits of private markets, while Yahoo Finance users will now have easier access to historically hard-to-find private company information within an interface they are already familiar with.

“The democratization of the private market is upon us,” said Kelly Rodriques, CEO of Forge Global. “With new pricing transparency, and new financial innovations coming online, more investors have access to high-growth investment opportunities than ever before.”

“Investing like large institutions requires more than just access – insights and knowledge empower everyday investors to participate in private markets alongside the ultra-wealthy,” said Atish Davda, CEO of EquityZen. “With more than a decade of experience democratizing private markets, we are thrilled to partner with Yahoo Finance, a leader in informing and empowering millions of individual investors. We’re excited to share data and proprietary market insights with users, welcoming them to explore further on our platform.”

The new offering will be available to all US Yahoo Finance users on the web (www.yahoofinance.com) and in the app, rolling out to additional markets in the future. This marks a significant step forward in the Yahoo Finance mission of providing quality information and tools that empower investors at every stage of their financial journey.
