Yahoo Adds Céspedes Family BBQ to Growing Yahoo Sports Talent Roster
Popular Duo of Jake Mintz and Jordan Shusterman to Bring Fresh Baseball Perspective to Yahoo Sports
Note: Verizon Media is now known as Yahoo.
New York, February 14, 2024 - Yahoo Sports, one of the internet’s leading destinations for sports news and fantasy games, announced today that it has added the Céspedes Family BBQ duo of Jake Mintz and Jordan Shusterman to its editorial team. In their new roles, Mintz and Shusterman will deliver baseball-related audio, video, and written content across multiple platforms exclusively on behalf of Yahoo Sports.
Mintz and Shusterman are two of the most influential young voices in baseball. They started the Céspedes Family BBQ blog when they were seniors in high school in 2012 and have since grown it into a mainstream media brand with a loyal following on social media and a popular Baseball Bar-B-Cast podcast. At Yahoo Sports, they’ll continue to cover baseball’s biggest stories with unique perspectives and analysis to help fans better understand what’s happening on and off the diamond.
“We started our blog over a decade ago as teenagers because Jordan and I desperately needed an outlet to talk ball with one another,” Mintz said. “Thankfully, that dynamic hasn’t changed at all and we’re incredibly grateful to - and humbled by - everyone who’s followed along. Jordo and I are beyond amped to get rolling on this new opportunity with Yahoo Sports; it’s a perfect spot to take our baseball-talking to the next level.”
“We’re ecstatic to have our writing and podcast under one internet roof for the first time in our careers,” Shusterman said. “Yahoo Sports is an awesome place for us to continue sharing our love for the sport with a wider audience while having a healthy amount of fun along the way.”
The hires demonstrate the continued investment by Yahoo Sports in expert voices with multi-platform presences. Mintz and Shusterman join other recent Yahoo Sports additions such as senior writer Kendall Baker, senior college football reporter Ross Dellenger, and analyst and host Jason Fitz.
“For more than a decade, Jake and Jordan have delivered fresh and insightful content that baseball fans love,” said Sam Farber, Head of Content, Yahoo Sports. “They’re a perfect fit for the content business we’re building at Yahoo Sports and we couldn’t be more excited to have them on board.”
The first Baseball Bar-B-Cast podcast with Yahoo Sports will air on Monday, Feb. 26, and be available on all major podcast platforms, including Apple Podcasts, Spotify, and YouTube.
Mintz and Shusterman join Yahoo Sports from FOX Sports, where they covered MLB for the past three seasons. They also had a stop at MLB.com and have hosted podcasts on The Ringer and SiriusXM.
